John has spent decades discovering and researching the fossil fishes of Western Australia’s remote Kimberly region. This has produced groundbreaking insights into the evolution of life on Earth. John is working with the Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council on an interactive website to foster opportunities for sharing knowledge, skills and connections between community, culture and country.

John is providing advice for the local community in Mansfield (Victoria) relating to their exhibit of Palaeozoic fish fossils found in this unique part of the Victorian High Country. This exhibit will be part of the new Mansfield Shire Museum to be opened in 2026.
